Introduction The sustained training mission to Bangladesh took place from 15- 30 March 2011 in Dhaka, Bangladesh in coordination with the counterpart Avian Influenza Preparedness and Response Project (AIPRP) under the Department of Livestock Services (DLS), Ministry of Fisheries and Livestock of Bangladesh.
Bangladesh’s first official report of an HPAI outbreak was in 2007 and has had recurrent outbreaks since. As of January of 2011, the Bangladeshi veterinarian authorities have reported numerous outbreaks of highly pathogenic avian influenza (HPAI) in various commercial farms across Dhaka, Chittagong, Rajshahi, Barisal and Khulna etc., according to the World Organisation for Animal Health (OIE)

Participants A total of 175 participants consisting of veterinary surgeons, Upazila livestock officers, scientific officers and senior scientific officers attended the workshop.
