Introduction
The sustained training mission to Jordan took place on 11 – 15 September, 2011 at Amman in coordination with the Jordan Food and Drug Administration (JFDA), Ministry of Agriculture (MoA), Ministry of Health (MoH) and the Ministry of Planning and International Cooperation (MoPIC). The training was attended by 59 animal health workers from all regions of Jordan, as well as participants from Palestine, Lebanon and Syria.

According to FAO, up to August 2011, Jordan had only had 1 HPAI outbreak which occurred in March 2006. Such outbreak occurred in the locality of Aljoun, with 21 cases in domestic birds and with the result of 1,500 birds being culled.

Palestine’s latest HPAI outbreak occurred in March 2011, with only one farm being affected and being resolved in less than 15 days. Lebanon and Syria have not presented HPAI cases so far.
