In addition to the sustained in-country trainings, this project delivered three laboratory workshops. These laboratory workshops took place at The Technical University of Denmark in Copenhagen and were delivered by internationally recognized experts with highly qualified knowledge and experience.

Workshop 1 with participants from Moldova, Belarus and Ukraine took place from 29 November to 1 December 2010. The second workshop was carried out from 28 February to 2 March 2011 with Russian participants, while the third workshop was held in Copenhagen from 16 to 18 May 2011 and gathered participants from Lebanon, Jordan, Syria, West Bank and Gaza, Bangladesh, Nepal, and Bhutan.

The workshops are intended to cover the following issues:

  • the role of laboratory diagnostics in an overall concept of disease control of AI;
  • adequate laboratory capacity and equipment;
  • inventory of adequate virological and serological methods to be employed in the implementation of a disease control project;
  • DIVA vaccination strategy to distinguish infected from vaccinated animals (where appropriate);
  • Hands-on training in the use of the methods identified and discussed.

The content and design of each laboratory training will be developed and delivered in close cooperation with competent authorities in the beneficiary countries.

For more information about the laboratory trainings, please contact Ms. Sibyl Lee (Contact Us).
